As we bring our 20th year to a close and begin our 21st year in business, we reflect on the past 20 years and anticipate all the next 20 has to offer for Laminate Works. If you missed our first 20th Anniversary blog series post last year, you can read all about our company’s history there. Over the years our capabilities, customers, location, people, and culture have continued to evolve, but our purpose and core values will never change. We exist to help manufacturers keep the promises they make to their customers through our guiding principles of quality, service, integrity, and the Golden Rule.
When LW started in 1999, we had three basic capabilities, and served two customers in one industry. We have grown into a company with countless capabilities, serving nine industries and over 150 customers every day. We have had facilities in Wichita, Kansas City, Lenexa, Dallas, and Houston before consolidating our operation, investing in our capabilities, and expanding our capacity into a single location in Kansas City.
This year we started offering our first ever product lines. When we started thinking about what our laser edgebanding machine and PUR lamination line would add to our plant, we realized we had something really unique to offer our customers. These new, best-in-class capabilities are a force to be reckoned with. First, we introduced our Specialty Substrates by launching AIRPLY. Then, we kicked off our SURFACE SOLUTIONS with the release of VELOUR and CRYSTAL. In other words, we are stocking material in house ready to produce these SURFACE SOLUTIONS and get them out to our customers quicker than ever, all with the highest quality materials and machine capabilities.
It’s hard to believe how much the plant has changed in the last year. We are so excited to see what the future holds at LW. What’s coming next, you ask? Well, you'll have to stick around to find out. Our owner, Bert Clothier, says, “This is just the beginning.”
As our capabilities and offerings have continued to evolve over the years, our core values have stayed the same. We want to constantly align our offerings with the demands of our customers to help them serve their customers as best we can. We pride ourselves in being problem solvers and we intend on doing just that for our customers and our industry. Stay tuned for what’s next from Laminate Works in the years to come!
